Losing someone is hard enough. I'm here to make one part of it a little easier.
I conduct funerals across Edinburgh and the Lothians.
Initially I’ll call to arrange a suitable time to come and visit you and I’ll talk through the basic
structure of the ceremony. In advance of your meeting, I’ll email a Word document called
“Information for Tribute” which is just a simple prompt about the areas of life I’ll ask about
your loved one.
Usually, I meet families at home, where we’ll chat. Most meetings are around an hour to an
hour and a half.
As we chat, I’ll take notes to write up a tribute that is truly reflective of your loved one. I
always ensure that each family has a ceremony draft in advance so any final amendments
can be made.
It’s an honour to be trusted by families at such a difficult time in their lives and a privilege to
share in the achievements and challenges of a life lived. I ensure that each ceremony I write,
and deliver, is dignified, meaningful and truly reflects the character of the person who has
passed away. It’s very important to me that your family feels comforted that you’ve had the
most fitting tribute possible for your loved one.
It truly is a privilege to conduct funeral ceremonies. There are often some really interesting
stories and I always like to make sure some light humour is included.
“Dear Sandy,
My sister and I wanted to say an enormous thank you for everything you've done to support us over
the last few weeks. You have been calm, kind and efficient which was just the approach we needed, and it's really made it all so much easier.
We felt you captured Dad's spirit and personality perfectly and have had lots of comments from those
at the ceremony or joining online about just how 'right'; it felt - so thank you (and for putting up with all of our amendments too!).”
“We want to thank you so much for your superb words yesterday at Mum's funeral. So many people commented to us later in the day how much they enjoyed listening to you and how it was almost as if you had known Mum yourself. You were the glue that held the whole ceremony together and we cannot thank you enough.
From our first meeting we had a good feeling that we had picked the right person to lead the way at Mum's funeral, and we were right. Your kindness, compassion and insight made the whole thing a lot
easier for us both.
With our sincerest thanks.”
“Hi Sandy,
On behalf of myself, my father and Emma's son, I'd like to thank you for your wonderful service on 29
May and your patience with me. You are a true professional (and you were right you got a few
chuckles) and you are a very caring man. You made a difficult time easier for us all.
Thank you!”
